NOYPI

es•cap•ism ( i-ska-piz-em) n. The tendency to escape from daily reality or routine by indulging in daydreaming, fantasy, or entertainment.

Nursing and care-giving; this are to date, the hottest school curriculum being offered. And why is that? --Because countries across the globe are in need of them; countries capable of giving them a higher salary, a bigger opportunity, a rich, old, senile, paralytic Canadian’s crap on their hands. I have nothing against them; being under a terrible system, I couldn’t blame nursing hopefuls why most of them want to leave this struggling country. It’s so surprising that even doctors already practicing their profession enroll on these courses.

What’s wrong with you guys?! Don’t give me answers like, “napapaka-praktikal lang ako” or “wala na kasing magyayari sa Pilipinas eh”. BULLSHIT! That’s the problem with our citizens. We are not as proud as Americans are to their country. We aren’t as patriotic, as supportive, as they are to America. I saw Americans crying as their anthem was being played. I could even bet all of my money that not half of us have our national anthem memorized. I would even sell my soul to the devil if a quarter of those people know the title of the anthem! Bayang magiliw? Ang mamatay ng dahi sayo? What’s wrong with us?! Let’s not look at country pride alone. Colonial Mentality. How many of us prefer imported goods over local? McDonalds whoops Jollibee’s big ass. Converse outsells Advan 1000 to 1. Let’s save the world form cavities with Colgate not B-E-A-M means smile. It’s always like that. We are killing our own industries. Yes, we know that local product are substandard compared to the products produced by the monster companies, but the less we patronize their stuff, the worse their product would be.

During the 60’s, our country was at its peak, its Golden Age. This was the time when everything was abundant, Philippines was placed next to Japan as the fastest growing country in the east. We were the envy of the elephant-strong Thailand, Malaysia and its sky scrapers and Hong Kong that was just selling chickens. Countries overseas send scholars here to learn our agricultural secrets, the real gold mine. This is where we should focus in order to be back on track again not in billiards, neither in basketball.

Change should begin within. There should be a radical change to make this happen but before all of that, we should first learn to embrace our nationality. This means no more American Dreams, no more kids who answer “my dream is to go abroad” in slum books, and yes, forget the dream of snow. If making NOYPI our new national anthem just to make it easier for us to memorize it, then let it be!

It has start somewhere
It has to start sometime
What better place than here
What better time than NOW!

instant get-together

last night JL texted me,

"hoy! asa bahay ka ba? daan kami jan . . tambay tau . ."
"sige, ayus lang. sino sino kayo?"
"ako at rom . . tawagan mo si jobart, jason, chevy, carlo, than"
"ayus ka a, ano ako? operator? ehehe"
"oo! bilis na. malapit na kami . . may dala c rom tsikot"
"saglit lang a! tangina kasi e, may pasok kami bukas"
"wahhehehehheheh!!"

after everyone arrived at my place, we headed to starbucks. we had a few sips of coffee and shared the latest, juiciest gossips. if you think only girls share and spread the latest, you better think again. hehe! actually, it was my girlfriend chai who texted me all of the hottest news. two of those about pregnancy! we were all surprised, laughing at the same time! damn! we never saw that coming. we had a really good time. it was 10 and cinderella gotta head home before fairy godmother hexes me... oops! ...HER again.

I.Q. +10, CHARISMA +??

it has been two weeks since my head started to ache after being in front of the PC the whole day. i realized that it must be my eyes that was causing that discomfort. i have a very sharp vision. i remember surprising doctors during medical exams by reading the Snellen chart effortlessly. i even confused one doc by spelling the fine print at the lower right part of the chart. it read, M-A-D-E-I-N-T-H-E-P-H-I-L-I-P-P-I-N-E-S. that is why i never really suspected having trouble with my eyes. what finally made me point out that it really was my eyes is that one time, i experienced a slight shift of vision. i also had a hard time focusing at an object. hmm… it might be just stress if it wasn’t accompanied by the piercing pain at my temples like migraine. i told my mom about it and she told me that those are symptoms of an eye problem. it could get worse if i just let it be. oh my GOD! it’s a sign of aging!

yesterday after hearing mass… (yup, up to now i never fail to be at least PHYSICALY PRESENT. although hindi naman ganung ka-hirap sumama sa simba kasi sa SM yung mass) … i asked my mom to have my eyes checked at vision express. before i had eye problems, i was actually in search of eyeglasses that could make me look smarter. hehe! this was the perfect time to have one, and not just a cheap one, a real prescription glasses! i sat in front of this eye thingamajig that measured my eye focus response. i thought i did well, spotting the hidden sheep behind the barn across the fields. (you didn’t see that did you?) to my surprise, my left eye was rated 25. near-sighted. although it was an acute eye problem, i wouldn’t gamble my vision. i was given the go signal by my mom to have my prescription glasses.

decisions, decisions. i’m really not good at making decisions when it comes to small things like buying a new shirt or a pair of glasses. i had to fit almost all of the spectacles on display before i chose the thin-framed black specs from girbaud. my sis got envy and got herself one too from the same brand. GAYA-GAYA! hehe! with my glasses on, i look 10 I.Q. points higher. asteeeg!

an enlightening text from tara

some of romances end end for all kinds of reasons. but, when all is said and done, they have one thing in common: they are shooting stars; a spectacular moment of light in the heavens; a fleeting glimpse of eternity. and in a flash, they're gone.

banana FACKS you didn't know

After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again!

Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose. Combined with fiber, bananas give an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must-add to our daily diet.

Bananas ease depression. According to a recent survey undertaken among people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

Bananas can help women cope with PMS. Forget the pills and eat a banana instead. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Bananas combat anemia. High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Bananas help regulate blood pressure. This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it good for blood pressure regulation. In fact, the US Food and Drug Administration has allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Bananas boost brain power. In a recent study, two hundred students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Bananas soothe heartburn. Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Bananas are good for mosquito bites. Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Bananas calm your nerves and help fight stress. Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system. They contain Potassium, a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Bananas help prevent strokes. According to research in "The New England Journal of Medicine", eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of having a stroke much as 40%!

Bananas reduce warts. People keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a band aid or surgical tape!

A banana is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around. So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

another unproductive day

since yesterday, i have been doing practicaly nothing here at work. the only work-related thing i did was to make sketches of the outpack area for the mayonnaise line. i'm so bored! it took me under an hour to finish the draft and another thirty minutes or so to plan for a better layout. so, what did i do to the remaining 7hours? visited blogs, read wrestling news (raw and summerslam), the latest on nba trades and player movements, searched for wolfgang tabs, went outside to play guitar, sound trip; in short, things i usually do at home. this is the life!

actually, although it's fun to slouch around and do nothing, i actually long for something work-related to do. i really value my time. i hate it when i am not productive at all. i have so much talent, skills and knowledge to share but there is so little of them i actually use doing my job which is plainly 5S (a set of japanese principles for good housekeeping. SHIT!) i kinda miss the routine jobs i handled for the last one-and-a-half months when our team's analyst was out due to a dislocated shoulder. long gone were the days when i hardly had time to post for blogs. but now, here i am, back again; bored, unhappy and posting more blogs.

a useful tip for guys out there

I was a very happy person. My wonderful girlfriend and I had been dating for over a year, and so we decided to get married. There was only one little thing bothering me...

It was her beautiful younger sister. My prospective sister-in-law was twenty-two, wore very tight miniskirts, and generally was bra-less. She would regularly bend down when she was near me, and I always got more than a pleasant view of her private parts. It had to be deliberate. She never did it when she was near anyone else.

One day her "little" sister called and asked me to come over to check the wedding invitations. She was alone when I arrived, and she whispered to me that she had feelings and desires for me that she couldn't overcome. She told me that she wanted to make love to me just once before I got married and committed my life to her sister. Well, I was in total shock, and couldn't say a word.

She said, "I'm going upstairs to my bedroom, and if you want one last wild fling, just come up and get me."

I was stunned and frozen in shock as I watched her go up the stairs. When she reached the top she pulled off her panties and threw them down the stairs at me. I stood there for a moment, then turned and made a beeline straight to the front door. I opened the door, and headed straight towards my car.

Lo and behold, my entire future family was standing outside, all clapping! With tears in his eyes, my father-in-law hugged me and said, "We are very happy that you have passed our little test. We couldn't ask for better man for our daughter. Welcome to the family."

And the moral of this story is: Always keep your condoms in your car...

continuation...

hahaha! grabe! i wasn't able to finish my post yesterday because the boss i mentioned suddenly apperared in front of me. i'm just hoping that he wasn't able to read what i was typing. luckily today, he's on leave. i can finish this blog worry-free.

this early, i already finished my scheduled tasks. i'm supposed to have a meeting now but since the organizer is on leave (yup, my boss), it would be re-scheduled tomorrow. fyi: it was originally sheduled yesterday. maybe it's not really important.

i can't wait to leave this place! nakakatamad ngayon!

week 30

as i type the header for my weekly progress report, i was surprised. i didn't realize that i'm already in my 30th week; thirty long, miserable, happy, tiring, relaxing weeks. i always forget to have my weekly reports signed by my supervisor at the end of every week. obviously, i need to have him sign almost 20 weeks of papers, 2 original copies each and i need them before saturday. tough luck! looking at the bright side, he'll surely feel like a famous celebrity signing autographs to his loyal fans. hehehe! i totally envy him (NOT).

aside from the weekly progress report, he also needs to fill up my evaluation form. a 3-page document containing my skills, behavioral and technical assessment. this is the week when i really need to impress my boss (ass-kissing time). the slightest mistake could tarnish my clean record and affect my evaluation greatly. that's the bad thing about evaluating at the end of the period, last impression lasts! all that people remember are the demerits, the boo-boos the blunders you did. seldom do you see evaluators looking at your strong points. haaaay... well, that's life.

i gotta to do what i gotta do. i arrived extra early today, finished my morning tasks already, did extra work and some flashy-flashy shits to impress the boss. hehe! i also became the king of euphemism, beefing-up my progress reports with strong words and tons of gobeldegook.

...to be continued

about the song

the song i previously posted is a single from orange and lemons. it's the type of music i dig these days. actually, im thanking chevy for introducing me to this genre, old-school rock-and-roll. they sound like bands during the beatles era when their idea of rock is far more melodious than the rock we know today. moptop hairdoo, vintage shades, cheesy lyrics, vocals distorted to sound like it came from your folks' record player. cool 'di ba?

just like a splendid lovesong...

spending my days with you
is like living in a world of fancy
with all the beautiful people i know
makin' love in a world
of vivid colors
how often have i been there
well it doesn't really matter
as long as we're together...

you and me together we will journey
to seek and see the colors
of our fantasies
come to life with the stroke of your soothing hands
all the questions of life
i will come to understand

seasons come
and seasons go
star will shine
and lose their glow…
but every time i try to look back
i know…

that spending my days with you
is like living in a world of fancy
with all the beautiful people i know
makin' love in a world
of vivid colors
how often have i been there
well it doesn't really matter
as long as we're together...

you and me in love with each other
there will be no problems that will bother
just the two of us painting a world of our own
everything is perfect
just like a splendid love song

seasons come
and seasons go
star will shine
and lose their glow..
but every time i try to look back
i know..

that spending my days with you
is like living in a world of fancy
with all the beautiful people i know
makin' love in a world
of vivid colors
how often have i been there
well it doesn't really matter
as long as we're together…
