weekend madness

last weekend was really tiring for me!

FRIDAY
my folks picked me up at work and we headed straight to pancake house for dinner and boy, did that pan-fried chicken tasted like moses after parting the red sea! after dinner, we bought pistachio creme pie across the street at conti's and headed to ruins for a little bit of shopping.

it's so unfair! everywhere you go, there are always more clothing choices for women than for men. us guys only choose between pants and shorts, collared or not. while my mum, tita and sis bought new clothes and accessories, all i got was a bag of movies and concert DVDs (ong bak, flight plan, the truth about cats and dogs, must love dogs, when harry met sally, fever pitch, kicking and screaming<--uber hilarious, corpse bride, american pie 4, nirvana unplugged, aerosmith and a classical orchestra concierto)

by 10:00 we were home eating the luscious creme pie while watching flight plan. it's a movie worth your time. don't watch it though if you are planning to ride a plane in the near future or you too will be a paranoidal wreck like jodi foster. LOL!

11:30 snooze time. gotta wake up early for gardening and the trip to market! market!

SATURDAY
after an hour of gardening, i took a relaxing bath. boy, was i dirty!? we left the house at around 10 am and arrived the fort before 12 noon. we saw this SU-TU-KIL restaurant in front of pricemart. i remembered the last time we ate at such a restaurant. it was last summer at cebu, the home of sutukil (SU-gba, TU-something and KIL-awin) it's like eating at dampa where you buy fresh food at the market and have the restaurant prepare them for you. there was an array of mollusks you only see in encyclopoedias and other critters you never dreamt of eating. ONLY IN CEBU. in the SUTUKIL at the fort, it was all ala-carte. ALA-CORNY! accompany not-so-tasty dishes with helovalot slow-paced service and moderately-high preces... (POOF!) badtrip!

we shoped at pricemart then headed to market! market! nothing new there. just like at ruins, all the stuff was for women! the only things i got were sore feet and an expensively-bad haircut c/o david's saloser. after that i asked them to drop me off at cubao where i was supposed to meet chai for their acquaintance party slash battle of the bands. i have to go there because it has been a week since i last saw chai (1 week cool-off) and yes, i am supposed to judge the battle of the bands. LOL

INSERT 1 1/2 HOURS OF TRAFFIC JAM HERE.

we finally arrived cubao station, she called to give me directions to her classmate's house. it wasn't very good. we u-turned 4 times around aurora boulevard, the road to marikina, edsa and new york. to top all of that, we were hailed by an mmda police for beating a red light. PUTANG INA! i'm gonna be late! it was actually a blessing in disguise, dad and i tried our best to act out way out of the offense. our alibi, we're running late for an appointment at an unfamiliar place and we've been circling edsa for quite some time now. hehe! none of it actually was an alibi. all of 'em were true. the officer was kind enough to escort us to the meeting place (megamelt store in banahaw street) and my dad gave the officer a "Token of Appreciation" *winkwink*

fei's house was right across the street. i was surprised that chai haven't taken a bath yet! it's already 6:45 and the program starts at 7! guess who the project head is? yup! it was her! LOL. after eating a slice of ensaymada and a glass of coke, we hailed a cab. moomba bar wasn't far from the house (balete drive-morato-roces), we only paid the driver 60 bucks. we arrived there at 8 sharp. an hour early using PST (philippine standard time). haha!

moomba bar has a very rustic, cozy feel because of the warm lights, plush seats, earthly tones and mundane, laid-back atmosphere. an almost perfect place for an acoustic concert. i was escorted to the table of the judges where i was introduced to my co-judges. two music majors. erwin, minor in choir conducting and his gf karen, piano minor. they are both younger than me and i guess that made me the chairman. (i was lucky enough to be chosen. maybe because of my impressive musical resume, or maybe just because the organizer is my gf. LOL)

INSERT 4 MEDIOCRE BAND PERFORMANCES HERE.

SUNDAY
it's already midnight, 3 bands to go! they did better performances than the others and unanimously, we chose them to be our top three. the winners: 1st place 4E2, 2nd place 3E2, third place 4E3. doesn't matter, our votes has only a 50% impact on the result, the other 50%? from the ticket votes. the final results had 4E3 for 1st place, 4E1 at 2nd and 3E2 at 3rd. our bet for #1 lost because only 20 of their classmates voted. SUCKS! to prove that they were the best, they bagged 3 of 5 individual awards (bassist, vocals, guitars). mob mentality still won over true talent. we were really upset.

we were awarded plaques of appreciation after that. for me, the food was enough. LOL. the party ended at 2am. we left the place at around 3:30. (1 1/2 hours of nothing. just waiting for people to leave or for someone to start the diaspora) next stop, starbucks morato. we did nothing but sit and wait. 5:00 i finally got my well-deserved rest.

we woke up at aroung 10am and headed straight home.

1 pm, lunch time at home and we had all the dishes that was left from our sutikil order retouched by me mum. after lunch, i hit the sack and woke up for the 6pm mass.

yellowcab for dinner. we had my favorite garden gorumet pizza (bell pepper, zucchini, eggplant, tomato, onion, mushroom, olives and capers), 4cheese pizza, charlie chan pasta and hot wings.

YUM! YUM!

to cap the evening, we had another scrabble game wile watching kicking and screaming. will ferrel is really hilarious! haha! talk about caffeine overdoze! watch it yourself to know.

sleepy time at 10:30.

HEP, MONDAY, WEEKEND'S EXTENSION
the moment we woke up, dad dragged us to the van for a trip to our coffee farm in amadeo. my suffering continues. i felled two coconut trees and got a blister for each of them. (thanks a lot gaea!) i was so tired clearing the wild cogon and harvesting crops, i fell asleep on the way home.

DROZ DROPPED DEAD AT 9:30PM

(i did more strenuous activities i failed to include in my post. what those are? slash gee gee)

THIS IS (almost) IT!

it is supposed to be my last week here at kraft. but... i got extended to december 9 because of the declared non-working holidays. i didn't know that 1800 hours could last this long?! LOL!

a useful tip for guys out there #2

When a GIRL is quiet, millions of things are running through her mind.

When a GIRL is not arguing, she is thinking deeply.

When a GIRL looks at u with eyes full of questions, she is wondering how long you will be around.

When a GIRL answers "i'm fine" after a few seconds, she is not at all fine.

When a GIRL stares at you, she is wondering why you are lying.

When a GIRL lays on your chest, she is wishing for you to be hers forever.

When a GIRL wants to see you everyday, she wants to be pampered.

When a GIRL says I love you, she means it.

When a GIRL says "i miss you," no one in this world can miss you more than that.

i received this email yesterday before i left the office. this really struck me because it's just SOOOOO timely! a lesson i learned the hard way; take it from me guys. most of them are true.

ways to keep your sanity

pardon me but i really need to do some of these things today... COMMENT ME ON WHICH OF THESE YOU WOULD LOVE TO SEE DROZ DOING.

At lunch time, sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hair dryer at passing cars. See if they slow down.

Page yourself over the intercom. Don't disguise your voice.

Put your garbage can on your desk and label it "in."

Put decaf in the coffee maker for 3 weeks. Once everyone has gotten over their caffeine addictions, switch to espresso.

Finish all your sentences with "in accordance with the prophecy."

Don't use any punctuation marks.

Specify that your drive-through order is "to go."

Sing along at the opera.

Go to a poetry recital and ask why the poems don't rhyme.

Put mosquito netting around your work area. Play a tape of jungle sounds all day.

Five days in advance, tell your friends you can't attend their party because you're not in the mood.

Have your coworkers address you by your wrestling name, Rock Hard Kim.

When the money comes out the ATM, scream "I won!", "I won!", "Third time this week!"

When leaving the zoo, start running towards the parking lot, yelling "run for your lives, they're loose!!"

Tell your children over dinner. "Due to the economy, we are going to have to let one of you go."

and the weiner is...

"if you were to live you whole life again, what kind of hotdog would you be?"

haha! funny and disturbing at the same time.

"i am a jumbo hotdog with dinuguan bits, something odd, deviates from standard, defies all rules."

this was a question given to us yesterday when we had this focus group discussion about hotdogs. no more details will follow about the FGD because we swore not to tell anybody about the brainstorming. what i can publish on this blog is my misadventure for that day.

'twas the morning of yesterday, i still don't know how to get to valero tower in salcedo village (aside from taking a cab). my mom who used to be a makati girl herself gave me directions that morning but it really wasn't that clear. she gave me ladmarks during her time in makati that ain't there anymore! LOL i tried to call jason (a graduate of mapua makati) but no answer. he texted me hours later and it said "baba ka lang sa may shell makalapmas lang ng rcbc tower tapos from there, lakad ka na lang". too late, by the time i received his text, i was already a couple of blocks past mapua. whoopeedoo!

afarid of losing machismo by asking directions, i braved the unfamiliar concrete jungle and tried to remember (or at least be familiar of) the street names i pass. DE LA something, a street with letter T, another that starts with LEV, at last! VALERO street! the interviewer told me that the landmark is a chinabank and a starbucks so i scanned the area for those establishments. i think i've walked more than 1km before i saw "The Valero Tower" (guess what, no starbucks or chinabank!)

i arrived there just in time for the free obento lunch. YEY!
(insert 2 1/2 hours of GREEN brainstorming here) <--blame it on the rather green HOTDOG topic. what is a SATISFYING HOTDOG for you? JUMBO or FOOTLONG? LOL

after the session, i received the token of appreciation (a token i very much appreciated!) i rode the elevator down the building and walked back to where i came from. i decided to take a different route (im quite good at navigating). who cares if i get lost? i'm used to it anyway (remembering the LOST times with jl in luneta, la salle, fort bonifacio, nichols... and the list continues) and there are numerous cabs in route. well, i turned left at a corner with a coffee shop, turned right at a bank, went straight to a hotel-like building (the salcedo?) and through a foliage-rich-park. then i saw a food stand i quickly recognized as "jollyjeep". it's where me and my mapuan buddies ate lunch during the magic tournament in mapua (yup! i was successful in infiltrating mapua campus without id. how i did it? sheer luck!) from there, i was standing in front of mapua! oh yeah! from there, going home is a piece of hotdog, err... cake! so, i DO have a good sense of direction!

btw: funny, chevy rode the same bus i took. the look on the face of his friend when i flashed an FU sign on him. LOL! wala lang! it was very unlikely to bump into a close friend because that was one of the few times i schedule myslef to manila.

talk about good parenting...

i'll try to recall the lost entry (dated november 3)... haay... it's still not as good (vivid) as the original post... CURSES!

'twas just another typical november 1 until my 5-year-old naughty nephew got himself to trouble. a really big one...

he was playing with a girl that looks a year older than him. they were running after an RC moster truck controlled by the girl's father when he thew dirt on the poor girl's face. her dad snapped! he grabbed my nephew, bambam by his arm and dragged the defenseless kid to our tent. the irate guy shouted,

"kaninong anak tong *$^(&% bata na to?! tingnan nyo ginawa sa anak ko, pinakain ng lupa! &$*%*^"
my cousin (the sister of the boy's mom) answered back, "wala yung nanay nyan, ako tita. bakit?"

"bakla ba yang pamangkin mo? tingnan mo nga, pumapatol sa babae!"
"pagpasensyahan nyo na po. bata naman yan e."
"&(*^$%^!! anong bata? walang bata-bata. kita mo nga't umiiyak na anak ko!!"

(quickly approaching us is the girl's similarly furious mother)
"hindi nyo ba tinuturuan yang bata na yan?" the mother screamed with all the veins in her neck showing.
"hala, pagantihin mo yung anak natin"
"anak, sapakin mo yang baklang yan! sige, ako bahala sayo! gantihan mo!"

WHAT THE HECK?!?!

"teka naman, hayaan nyo na yan. bata lang naman e." a spectator said.
"(*%^($! bakit ba nakikialam pa kayo?" the father said carrying an aura similar to that of a war-monger.

"sige anak, banat!"

the crying girl didn't do anying. (whew!) if that girl lay her hands on bam, i myself will pounce to protect him.

"teka, namumukaan ko kayo a... tiga j. rizal kayo diba?" the mother said.
"oo bakit?"

"(grunts) kaya pala. hindi nyo ba alam na taong j. rizal din ako? kilala nyo si bobby?"
(a name of a notorious guy in our place)
"hindi"
"hmpf..."

knowing that nothing's gonna happen if they continue their verbal assault and keep on blabbing, they angrily left our tent.
peace at last!

i could still see the guy with his eyebrows meeting end to end as he told his older son to punch my nephew in place of his little sister.

THE NERVE!!

luckily, the fruit fell way-off the tree. the boy ran towards the opposite direction.

minutes later, i saw them packing their things. as they left the cemetery, i swear i saw the father looking towards our direction, eyebrows still together. haha! what an ass!

i took a peek at their gravemarker. i will forever remember their family name... (enter thunderbolt followed by a coyote's howl) they could have at least look at our niche's tombstone. if they did, i'm sure they wouldn't act that way. haaaay... i could imagine myself commanding our 30+ macho kargadors to hunt them down. LOL they messed with the wrong family.

paint it black

still tasting spoiled saliva, my tita pulled me out of bed. it was 8 in the morning and she's asking my to go with her to golden haven to pitch our tents for nov 1. haaaay...

after we pitched the two tents for both of my parents' folks (yup, hanggang sa sementeryo, magkapit-bahay sila. hehe!) under the blistering heat of the sun, we went home. nothing much to do there until my sister dared me to paint my nails black for the occasion; i did.
